Repair Vendors

If your wheelchair, scooter, or other durable medical equipment needs repair, the providers and resources below may be able to help in Massachusetts.

If you use MassHealth or another insurance plan, contact the provider that supplied your equipment or your health plan first.

REquipment provides this directory as a community resource. Inclusion does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of services.

Before You Arrange a Repair

If possible, have the following information available when you contact a repair provider:

  • Type of equipment
  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Description of the problem
  • Where and when the equipment was purchased or supplied
  • Whether you plan to use insurance or pay privately

Some companies only repair equipment they originally supplied or equipment from certain manufacturers.

If you rely on the equipment for daily mobility or safety, ask whether temporary, rental, or loaner equipment may be available while your device is being repaired.

Using MassHealth or Insurance for Wheelchair Repair

If you have MassHealth and your primary wheelchair needs repair, contact the wheelchair provider that supplied the chair first. The provider can evaluate the equipment and help arrange the repair.

MassHealth currently identifies Agawam Medical Supply, Apple Homecare Associates, National Seating & Mobility, Numotion, and Rehabilitation Equipment Associates as wheelchair providers.

MassHealth members who live in Worcester, Hampshire, Hampden, Franklin, or Berkshire County may also contact Stavros Center for Independent Living for help starting a wheelchair repair. Stavros works with National Seating & Mobility and can connect members with another provider when needed.

MassHealth may also cover a rental or loaner wheelchair while a primary wheelchair is being repaired, depending on the circumstances and availability.

If you are enrolled in another insurance or managed-care plan, contact the plan or the company that originally supplied the equipment to ask how repairs should be arranged.
