About REquipment

REquipment, Inc. is a Massachusetts nonprofit that provides gently used durable medical equipment and assistive technology at no cost to people across the state.

REquipment helps people get the equipment they need while keeping usable devices in service and out of landfills.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support the dignity, independence, and self-determination of people with disabilities by providing access to free, gently used durable medical equipment (DME) and assistive technology (AT) throughout Massachusetts.

Our Values

Our work is grounded in the core principles of the Independent Living Movement: consumer choice, consumer control, and the right to fail.

Trust in the Consumer

We believe people know what they need.

REquipment does not require proof of disability or income. If you live in Massachusetts and need equipment, you are eligible to use the program.

Compassion Over Bureaucracy

REquipment exists in response to barriers that can make it difficult for people to get needed equipment.

We lead with kindness and err on the side of generosity with our consumers and with one another.

By and For Disabled People

People who use durable medical equipment and assistive technology have a direct role in REquipment’s leadership and governance.

At least 51% of REquipment’s Board of Directors is made up of people who use DME or AT. REquipment also actively seeks to hire people with disabilities.

Shared Ownership

REquipment’s work depends on the trust of people who receive equipment and people who donate it.

The program is sustained by the people who use it, donate equipment, work with REquipment, and support its statewide partnerships.

Equipment Reuse With a Purpose

REquipment provides donated DME and AT to Massachusetts residents who need it while extending the useful life of valuable equipment.

The program also reduces waste. Equipment is refurbished using environmentally sound sterilization practices rather than being discarded when it can still be used.
