Current Opening
Equipment Technician / Driver
Location: Canton, Massachusetts
Job type: Part-time
Schedule: 22.5 hours per week, 3 days per week
Hours: 7.5 hours per day
Starting pay: $20.00 per hour
REquipment is seeking an Equipment Technician / Driver to refurbish, organize, pick up, and deliver donated durable medical equipment.
The position requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, dependable work habits, and the ability to work both independently and with others.
Key Responsibilities
Refurbish and Prepare Equipment
- Clean, detail, and refurbish durable medical equipment, including power and manual wheelchairs, lifts, gait trainers, and standers.
- Perform safety checks and replace parts as needed.
- Prepare refurbished equipment for safe storage and distribution.
Manage Equipment Inventory
- Assign inventory numbers to refurbished equipment.
- Photograph equipment and add it to the program’s online inventory.
- Store equipment in designated clean areas, with proper bagging, so items can be located and handled safely.
- Cover and store newly picked-up equipment in the designated “dirty” room area until it is ready for processing.
- Participate in regular inventory checks.
Pick Up and Deliver Equipment
- Assist with equipment pickups and deliveries throughout the region.
- Complete required safety checks on agency vehicles used for pickups and deliveries.
- Make sure the tools, supplies, and equipment needed to move devices are in the vehicle and in working order.
- Research directions and confirm pickup and delivery appointments with customers the day before scheduled service.
- Provide manuals, written materials, or other instructions when equipment is delivered.
- Maintain vehicle mileage logs, gas card records, and other required documentation.
Other Responsibilities
- Follow REquipment quality and safety procedures, including COVID protocols.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Program Director or Site Coordinator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of mechanical repair experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Valid driver’s license held for at least five years.
- COVID-19 vaccination.
- Ability to pass a criminal record check (CORI).
- Spanish or Portuguese language skills are helpful but not required.
