Jennifer Baker Memorial Scholarship
REquipment awards the Jennifer Baker Memorial Scholarship, an annual $1,000 scholarship for a student pursuing studies related to durable medical equipment (DME) or assistive technology (AT).
The scholarship supports students preparing for careers that can expand access to assistive technology, durable medical equipment, and the benefits of equipment reuse.

Honoring Jennifer Baker
The Jennifer Baker Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 by the REquipment Board of Directors in memory of former Program Director Jennifer Baker.
Jennifer was an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) with a PhD in Psychology who helped REquipment grow during its early years. She brought a strong commitment to assistive technology, equipment reuse, and helping people with disabilities and older adults live more independently.
Jennifer prized lifelong learning. The scholarship carries that commitment forward in her memory.
Who the Scholarship Supports
The scholarship supports a student pursuing a career related to assistive technology or durable medical equipment who values reuse and its role in improving the lives of people with disabilities and older adults.
Applicants should be enrolled in a degree or certificate program in:
- Occupational therapy
- Physical therapy
- Adaptive technology
- A similar field related to DME or AT
Preference is given to applicants residing in Massachusetts or Connecticut, where Jennifer lived and worked.

2026 Jennifer Baker Scholar
Congratulations to Jaman Mahamud, REquipment’s 2026 Jennifer Baker Scholar.
At the time of the award, Jaman was preparing to attend Columbia University with an interest in biomedical engineering. He is a co-founder of Manus Nova Prosthetics, a student-led initiative at The Bronx High School of Science that designs and distributes 3D-printed prosthetics.
Jaman’s scholarship application also described his interest in making assistive technology more affordable and reusable, including his goal of developing a no-cost repair and exchange system for children who use prosthetic devices.
